Sophie Gray is a photographer born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland. She attained her BA Honours degree in Photography from Edinburgh Napier University in 2020 and currently resides in the city of Nantes.
During her time at Napier, Sophie was granted the opportunity to study abroad for one semester at Ryerson School of Image Arts in Toronto, Canada, where she further developed her skills as an artist; using photography as a mediator for exploring the notion of ‘identity’ through a series of introspective self-portraits. Her final year project, ‘Sorry For Your Loss’, helped her to unravel and gain a deeper understanding of the volatile process of grieving.
She continues to explore and examine intimate themes within her work, hoping to find connection with, and resonate the complexities of human experiences.
